What to do when you want to text your ex
When you want to text your ex, “I want to contact them” starts a one-minute breathing exercise with Pip before you act.
What Breathe with Pip does
- One tap from the home screen: “I want to contact them”.
- A calm minute of breathing in and out with Pip, with optional sound.
- Then two quick questions: how strong the urge is now, and what you hoped to get from reaching out.
- Next steps: write it out in Unsent, talk to Pip, or go back home.
- Your answers help Pip understand your patterns over time.
How it works

Questions
What should I do when I want to text my ex?
Pause first. Breathe slowly for a minute, notice what you hope to get from texting, then write the message somewhere it won't be sent. The urge usually passes.
Does breathing really help with urges?
Slow breathing calms the body's stress response and creates space between the urge and the action, which makes it easier not to act on impulse.
Can I try it without the app?
Yes. The home page of silentera.app has a one-minute “Take a breath with Pip” you can do in your browser, no sign-up.
